Never in human history has our species been under a greater existential threat. The disaster is not going to happen – it is happening right here and right now. It’s happening to the planet and its particularly happening to your children and grandchildren. They will suffer and some will die. You need to act.
In a country, where right across the political spectrum, obfuscation, misrepresentation and rhetoric substitutes for meaningful action and the greed for power and wealth over-rides the responsibility to effectively govern, personal grass-roots action become critical.
Only if all the little people get together and rise up in anger and concern will any changes be made.
We are asking your community group to declare A CLIMATE EMERGENCY, to display the fact where possible and announce your declaration in The Mouth and the Snowy Mountain Mail. We have included a small display poster, or you can log onto ‘skullthorpe.com’ where you will find a PDF that you can download and print for display without creases. We are also asking you to lobby The East Gippsland Shire Council to declare the emergency by writing or emailing all the local councillors.
You can meet with us on Fridays between 11.30 and 1.30 at The Gazebo. We have choc-chip muffins to share.
Please do not fail your children and their children.
